June 13, 2002 -- As many Americans sit on their travel plans this summer, trying to figure out their budgets and how far they will go (literally), enterprising theme park owners are among those dreaming up new deals to attract some traffic. Universal Studios Hollywood, to nobody's surprise, is one of those coming up with innovative ideas. How's this one? Buy one, get all summer free. Sure beats twofers, doesn't it?
If you purchase a one-day admission from now through October 31, 2003, you get unlimited admission (including weekends and holidays) on Universal's "Endless Summer Pass." The adult entrance fee is $47, while children less than 48 inches tall pay $37. With this pass, which is the same price as a one-day admission, you can enjoy an entire season of movie-themed entertainment. No wonder the studio is crowing about a "first time in Southern California history" for this kind of deal.
Although the pass was created primarily for California residents, anyone can buy it. You'll get in to the park's new mega-attraction, "Shrek 4-D," and the just-in-time-for-the-summer-blockbuster "Hulk Special Effects Stages." Other attractions include depictions of Marvel Comic characters Spider-Man, Wolverine, Magneto, Captain America, Storm, Dr. Doom and The Green Goblin.
Other Marvel-themed attractions include an X-Men Training Academy show and death-defying stunts by DareDevil in his first ever theme park appearance. If you need a break from the rides and shows, take in a studio tour, going behind the scenes to see many of the original filming locations, sets and sound stages for bigtime summer releases like Bruce Almighty, The Hulk and The Cat in the Hat.
At this site, the world's largest movie studio and theme park, you can also view attractions such as "Terminator 2: 3D," "Jurassic Park: The Ride" and many more.
Purchase your "Endless Summer Pass" at the Universal Studios Hollywood ticket booth, in the horn at 818/622-3725 or order online at www.universalstudioshollywood.com.
