Here's one that speaks to all you Sinophile pedalists out there: a long tour of China by bicycle including airfare, deluxe hotels, all meals (banquets too!), all fees to museums and other sites, an English-speaking guide for the duration of your journey and internal transportation on flights and ferries for $2,068. This unique trip is brought to you by Discover China Bicycle Tours (https://trips.discover-china.org, 619/294-4535) through GSITS, the Chinese government travel bureau. The were the first group to organize a bike tour for westerners way back in 1981, and next year they're offering four different trips; May 6-21, June 27-July 12, September 12-27 and October 14-29.

You start in Hong Kong, take a ferry up to the Pearl River Delta, where the real work starts cycling 30-40 miles per day through Guangdong and Guanxi provinces and beyond, with extension available for tours of Beijing, the Great Wall, the Yangtze River and more. And all in a comfortably sized touring group of no more than 12 people. On the groups Web site you can read a fully-detailed itinerary, view scads of photos from tours past, take-in what previous riders have to say about the trip and find practical information about what to expect. Single travelers who are willing to pair up will have the supplemental fee waived.
