Jim McCaleb, general manager of the Lodges, says that "September is probably the most special month in the park. The elk are bugling, the temperatures are cooler and the aspen and cottonwood are in full color."
Participants will have exclusive use of the Roosevelt Lodge during the program. Each Roughrider Cabin has two beds, a wood stove and wash stand, and Presto logs in a wood-burning stove will provide heat. Bathrooms with private showers are in a separate building a short walk from the cabins. The prices mentioned do not include tax. Single participants go for$100 more, bring that total to $558.
The package includes four nights at the Lodge, three meals each day, and expert instructions from the YIA staff. Each day, Institute naturalists will offer a selection of field trips including excursions to watch wildlife, natural history hikes or interpretive driving tours. Every evening, a naturalist or guest expert will present a special program in the Lodge, which is operated by Amfac Parks & Resorts.
You can make reservations by calling 307/344-5566. For more information on the park itself, go to www.travelyellowstone.com or e-mail Amfac at discover@travelyellowstone.com.
