A number of Penticton-area vineyards now have restaurants; in fact, in good weather, these winery dining rooms are extremely charming places to eat, as most dining is alfresco (there are no bad views in the valley) and there's an explosion of local boutique and organic market produce available to young chefs. Of the wineries noted above, Sumac Ridge's Cellar Door Bistro (tel. 250/494-0451) is open daily year-round (except late Dec and early Jan) for lunch and dinner. Hillside Estate operates the Barrel Room Bistro, 1350 Naramata Rd. (tel. 250/493-6274; www.hillsideestate.com), which is open for lunch daily from Easter weekend through early October, and open for dinner on weekends starting May 1, and nightly for dinners in mid-June. Lake Breeze Vineyards operates The Patio, 930 Sammet Rd. (tel. 250/496-5659; www.lakebreeze.ca), open for lunch from May 1 to early October.
