Some are free, while others charge a fee of around $10; most are offered from July to the end of August. Guided trolley tours of downtown, historic homes, and historic churches are offered from July to the end of August. Dutch Apple Cruises, corner of Quay and Madison avenues (tel. 518/463-0220; www.dutchapplecruises.com), cruises the Hudson with narrated lunch and dinner trips with entertainment. Canal Pilot, Waterford (tel. 518/928-1863), does custom boat tours of the Hudson River as well as Lake Erie and Champlain canals. Hart Tours, 1 Becker Terrace, Delmar (tel. 800/724-4225 or 518/439-6095), is a tour operator that has 1-, 2-, and 3-day area itineraries, including tours of the Adirondacks and Capital District.
