Compared to Universal Studios next door, Islands of Adventure is known for having the more thrilling rides. All three of these rides are outdoors, so they will shut down while lightning is detected nearby.

  • Jurassic World VelociCoaster: Launched in 2021, VelociCoaster instantly became one of the most celebrated modern coasters in the world. It's aggressive, packed with original maneuvers (like a 360-degree barrel roll and a 100-foot zero-gravity inverted stall), beautifully themed, and its line moves quickly. The queue is even indoors, in the AC. It's one of the most perfect themed roller coasters in operation.
  • Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure: Hagrid's is rumored to be the most expensive roller coaster ever produced (reportedly $300 million in 2019) and you can see why. Billed as a "story coaster" that whisks riders from scene to scene, Hagrid's' multiple sudden accelerations and swooping track layout are exhilarating, hurtling guests through low-to-the-ground movements that stylize a motorcycle chase. Full of surprises and deeply satisfying, it's not just about adrenaline. It's also a thrill that also manages to be family-friendly.
  • Incredible Hulk Coaster: Punchy and noisy—you can hear those wheels roar across the entire park—it's a no-nonsense green scream machine. Before VelociCoaster came on the scene, this was the high-octane, loop-intense ride that the coaster aficionados insisted upon. Now it's a beloved classic. It's even more intense than VelociCoaster, with very few moments to catch your breath and let the blood flow back from your tingling extremities.
