Locals romantically refer to this resort town in the Fryksdalen (Frylen Valley) as the "land of legend," and it's forever associated with the writing of the Nobel Prize winner Selma Lagerlöf. Sunne, in fact, was the prototype for the village of Bro in The Sage of Gösta Berling, her most famous work, which was turned into a movie starring Greta Garbo.

During summer, you can take boat trips on the glistening waters or play golf on a 9-hole course. In winter, Sunne often attracts skiers, as it has Värmland's highest lift capacity and the most modern cross-country stadium in Europe. Its slalom facility offers a ski school, ski rentals, a ski shop, sports services, a restaurant, and a lodge. There are 10 descents that vary in difficulty; 4 of them are lit when twilight falls.
