ARRIVING

Kennebunk is just off exit 25 of the Maine Turnpike; follow signs east into town. You can also get here by taking Route 1 from York and Ogunquit. To reach Kennebunkport, exit for Kennebunk and continue through town on Port Road (Route 35) 3 and 1/2 miles. At the traffic light, turn left and cross the small bridge.

VISITOR INFORMATION

The Kennebunk-Kennebunkport Chamber of Commerce, 17 Western Avenue (www.gokennebunks.com; tel. 207/967-0857), can answer questions year-round by phone or at its kiosk in Lower Village across from the H.B. Provisions grocery store.

GETTING AROUND

Several higher-end inns in the Kennebunks offer free shuttles downtown. Otherwise, the best way to get around Dock Square and Lower Village is by foot or bike. There’s a free lot on North Street in Kennebunkport, a half-mile north of Dock Square, or a paid lot right in the heart of things, behind Alisson’s Restaurant, at 11 Dock Square. Coastal Maine Kayak and Bike (www.coastalmainekayak.com; tel. 207/967-6065), right at the foot of the bridge in Lower Village, rents bikes, ebikes, and scooters by the hour or for a full day.
