Ipswich: 30 miles NE of Boston, 13 miles NW of Gloucester. Newburyport: 38 miles NE of Boston.

North of Cape Ann, at the uppermost part of Massachusetts near the New Hampshire border, the coast is magnificent, with outdoor sights and sounds that can only be described as natural wonders. The towns of Ipswich and Newburyport are charming to visit, but their greatest assets lie outside of town: Ipswich’s popular Crane Beach, part of a wildlife refuge, and on Newburyport’s Atlantic coast, Plum Island, one of the country’s top nature preserves.
