Frommer's Review
An Old Acapulco landmark dating from 1934, El Mirador Hotel enjoys an unforgettable view of the famous cove where the cliff divers perform. It has been renovated with tropical landscaping and extensive Mexican tile. The hotel's guest rooms are staggered along the edge of a cliff with double or queen-size beds and traditional furnishings, small kitchenette areas with minifridge and coffeemaker, and large bathrooms with marble counters. Most have a separate living room, some have a whirlpool tub, and all are accented with colorful Saltillo tile and other Mexican decorative touches. Ask for a room with a balcony or ocean view. Many guests gravitate to the large, breezy lobby bar as day fades into night on the beautiful cove. A set-price, three course dinner without wine ($39/£20) at La Perla restaurant affords stunning views of the cliff-diving show. Nearby is a protected cove with good snorkeling.
Facilities:
2 restaurants; lobby bar; 3 outdoor pools, including 1 rather rundown saltwater pool; massage service; room service; laundry service

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
