Standing at the center of what was a major commercial crossroad during the 16th and 17th centuries is this recently restored caravansaray, originally built for the daughter of Süleyman the Magnificent. The restoration, led by the ubiquitous Turkish tycoon, Rahmi Koç, was surely a labor of love. Although a major meeting place for commercial and social goings-on in its heyday, the place was in veritable ruins by the time Koç's father opened up a shop on the ground floor in 1917. The inn now houses thematic exhibits such as engineering, road transport, scientific instrumentation, medicine, and maritime pursuits. Many are interactive and should appeal particularly to fans of The Way Things Work.
