A favorite since the 1970s, the Catamaran opens onto a palm-lined beach at Falmouth Harbour, a 3km (2-mile) drive from English Harbour. Peace, tranquility, and lots of bougainvillea plants prevail. There's an Internet cafe inside the hotel where you can use computers for US$30 (£16) for the first hour, US$10 (£5.20) each additional hour.

On the second floor, each of eight self-contained, motel-style rooms has a comfortable bed (in many cases, a four-poster), a queen-size mattress, and a balcony overlooking the water. The Captain's Cabin is the most luxurious. The ground-floor rooms are small but comfortable. Additional units are within a waterside annex. All but two of the units have kitchens, and each is furnished with a tiled, shower-only bathroom.

Boaters will like the hotel's location at the 30-slip Catamaran Marina. You can purchase supplies at a nearby grocery store.
