Frommer's Review
Giving every first-class resort in the Caribbean a serious run for its money is this stunner from the owner of London's uber-boutique hotel One Aldwych. The resort's entire collection of furniture, all dark Indonesian teak and creamy Italian upholstery, is custom-made. Set on a picture-perfect bay, the resort offers every luxe amenity from a world-class spa to tennis pros to serious food in two restaurants. Kids even have their own movie theater. Each of the 80 suites opens into a sea view. The Beach Suites are steps away from the water; the Ocean Suites have an extra perk -- you can pour yourself into a hot bath in the spacious tub and gaze out a big picture window onto the mangrove lagoon behind the resort -- a wild, freshwater environment that can, blessedly, never be developed. The Carlisle Suites are the biggest units, with three bedrooms, a sitting room, and a kitchen. The resort's well-stocked library has a cool, contemporary look, but at night it seems to glow from within, an old-fashioned beacon for book lovers. No question: Carlisle Bay offers swimming, sailing, and diving as well as tennis and yoga, but this is a resort for true relaxation. Service is top-notch.
