Frommer's Review
Here you will find accouterments not duplicated in any other hotel. Terraces surround the complex on all sides; an ancient Roman column (part of the ancient Temple of Constantine) rises from one edge of the terrace; the Corrida Bar features photos of the grand painters who made the bar their hangout in the 1950s, along with an artistically and historically important collection of valuable African wildlife photos taken by Peter Beard, a long-ago friend of Karen Blixen. Some visitors compare its high-ceilinged, lush, and artfully decadent brown, gold, and white interior to a Batista-era hotel in old Havana: It's hot, artsy, sensual, a bit imperial, comfortable, and very grand. The decor of the restaurant is vaguely baroque, filled with paneling and mirrors, with a '50s-era decor that no one wants to change. The cuisine is one of the lightest and most sophisticated in town, employing top-notch chefs to prepare dishes based on the best of seasonal shopping. The menus change frequently but are generally a delight. The food is colorful, spicy, and artfully arranged on platters.

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
