In a rustic stone building in the hamlet of Noord, Buccaneer is one of Aruba's most popular seafood restaurants. The nautical decor, which features hanging fishnets, portholes, and 12 bubbling aquariums chock-full of colorful fish, creates the watery atmosphere of a sunken ship. Another dining area has the feel of an underwater cave and boasts a 5,000-gallon seawater tank. Menu items include crabmeat cocktail, escargots in herb-garlic-butter sauce, shrimp in Pernod sauce, seafood Thermidor, and a land-and-sea platter with fish, shrimp, and beef tenderloin. If you're looking for something that sticks to the ribs, try smoked pork cutlets, sausage, sauerkraut, and potatoes. The food is hearty and delicious. The spacious bar area is a great place to linger over a drink or two.
