Conventional wisdom has it that this decades-old, family-run restaurant is a prime place to watch the sun set. It's hard to argue with that: The open-air terrace overlooks the water, and the sea breezes soothe sunburned skin. But at lunch on weekends, the restaurant offers a completely different experience: You can witness authentic Aruban family life. Sundays, when the local churches let out, are best. That's when multigenerational extended families, 15 or 20 people strong, feast on fresh, home-cooked Aruban seafood. Plus, there's no better place to sample the local sea's bounty or traditional Aruban side dishes like keri keri (shredded barracuda), pan bati (sweet, flat corn bread), and funchi (corn polenta). The crispy conch fritters come with marinated onions and Madame Janette peppers. Anything prepared Aruban-style is smothered in onions and sweet red peppers.
