Le Petit Café ReviewWhen they say the plate's hot here, they mean it. Le Petit Café offers seafood and beef served on stone platters as hot as molten lava. With the "stove" at your table, you determine how much your meal's cooked. A boon on breezy evenings, a hot plate is a mistake during the heat of the day. The pink and turquoise stucco walls fit right in with the confectionery architecture of the surrounding shopping mall. Start things off with a Crazy Monkey; boasting vodka, Bailey's Irish Cream, Kahlúa, crème de banana, and amaretto, it covers three of the major food groups. The crispy conch fritters are a good appetizer. For the main course, jumbo shrimp "on the stone," marinated in olive oil and enough garlic to keep vampires at bay, tastes like it just came off the barbie. The lobster, shrimp, and beef tenderloin combo is just as flavorful. Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
