Pirates' Nest ReviewOpen-air, beachside dining is the allure of this breezy restaurant at the Aruba Bucuti Beach Resort. Built to resemble a 16th-century Dutch galleon, the structure contrasts sharply with the elegant beach surroundings. Ask for a table on the recently renovated deck with views of the beach. The extensive menu ranges from inexpensive soups, salads, and sandwiches to more substantial fare (mostly seafood). Start with oak-smoked Scottish salmon with onions and capers, or the flavorful bouillabaisse. Sautéed jumbo shrimp in creamy chili, garlic, and cognac sauce is a zesty main course; other marine options include mahimahi and sea bass. There's also beef stroganoff, rib-eye steak, and grilled chicken in mango and pink peppercorn sauce, and several vegetarian dishes round out the menu. Call in advance for a private table on the beach. Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
