Frommer's Review

This intimate beachside restaurant is perfect for a moonlit dinner in the old fishing village of Savaneta. Many tables line the rustic wooden deck and serene beach, and are so close to the sea that your feet may get wet. Swaying palm trees and starlight glittering in the sea are the stage for the restaurant's dramatically presented nouvelle cuisine. Duck liver terrine with walnuts, beets, and apples in beetroot dressing may not be for everyone, but grilled shrimp with mushrooms and mild pesto oil is a winner. Shrimp roti and smoked duck with cantaloupe are other good appetizers. Main courses include braised wahoo with papaya chutney and turmeric mayonnaise, and rock lobster poached in brandy stock with garden herbs and butter sauce. The portions are nouvelle, too, which means you'll have room for mango mousse or pineapple-coconut pie.

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
