Frommer's Review
This oasis of provincial comfort is your best bet for fine dining in San Nicolas. Although the Promenade has a reputation for being expensive, the prices are reasonable by Aruba standards. Don't expect the polish of the fanciest restaurants in Oranjestad; just savor the calm atmosphere, attentive service, and well-executed cuisine. If you like pickled herring, kick things off with seafood tempura. Featuring chilled chunks of calamari, crab, and octopus, it's seasoned with onions and light chile-pepper vinaigrette. The promenade seafood is a house specialty and can be served as an appetizer or a main course. Chunks of tender seafood cooled in a creamy hollandaise sauce are heaped over a puff pastry and covered with cheese. The excellent butterfly shrimp main course, sprinkled with toasted almonds, is bathed in a complex curry sauce that hits a series of flavor tones, from sweet to hot. The pepper steak, flambéed with brandy and topped with green-pepper sauce, is another favorite. The velvety crème caramel comes with lemony strawberry sauce.
