Frommer's Review
The only low-rise in the High-Rise area, this resort combines Dutch efficiency and Aruban warmth. Opened in 1990, the two-story complex lies opposite Palm Beach and the Wyndham, next to the kitschy Dutch windmill. Its strengths include personal service, easy access to amenities, and comparatively reasonable prices. Most guests tend to be honeymooning or celebrating a longer romance, but others are looking to meet people and have a good time. Families, who appreciate the value, are welcome as well. The sunny, spotless units feature near-retro bamboo furniture, watercolor fabrics, and tile floors. Junior rooms have a king-size bed, full bathroom, sitting area with sofa bed, good-size porch or balcony, and gleaming kitchenette. Budget-friendly studios have one king-size bed and a pullout sofa, a shower-only bathroom, dining/sitting area, and fully equipped kitchen, but no balcony. An open Jacuzzi is steps away from a king-size bed in the Royal rooms, which also boast a vanity area with two sinks, a separate bathroom with shower, a sitting area, and a porch or balcony, minifridge and coffeemaker, but no kitchenette. Garden- and pool-view rooms cost the same; the pool's party atmosphere wanes later in the day, but garden rooms are quieter around the clock. Although the Mill has no beachfront, it has a pool that was renovated in 2006 and offers a towel hut and chairs on the beach, a 3-minute walk away.
