Frommer's Review
On Manchebo Beach, across from the Alhambra Casino, this timeshare resort is closely affiliated with the Aruba Beach Club next door; amenities at either complex are available to guests at both. Casa del Mar consists of two four-story buildings (each with a pool) separated by a quiet street. The vast majority of the timeshare owners and rental guests are North American families. Constructed in 1986 on the beach, the two-bedroom presidential suites feature three TVs and fully equipped kitchens. Both the living rooms and master bedrooms open to the large square balconies. The master suites have queen-size beds, huge vanity areas with makeup mirrors worthy of Hollywood, large open bathtubs with faux-marble bench seating, and separate showers. The guest rooms have two twin beds and full bathrooms. Pleasant dark-rattan furniture, muted solid colors, and off-white tile floors decorate the spacious living/dining area. Ocean- and island-view suites cost the same; ocean views are prettier, but the island-view units are quieter. Built across the street in 1991, the newer ambassador wing has no beachfront. The tranquil one-bedroom suites here also have two TVs, but the kitchen/dining/living area is more compact, and the decor is less subdued. The full bathrooms are large but no match for the elaborate ones in the presidential wing. The good-size balconies face the pool.
Facilities: Beachside restaurant; Internet cafe; pool bar; 2 outdoor pools; kiddie pool; 18-hole championship golf course nearby; 2 tennis courts lit for night play; exercise room; poolside Jacuzzis; extensive watersports equipment/rentals; children's program; tour/activities desk; car-rental desk; shopping arcade; salon; babysitting; coin-op laundry; rooms for those w/limited mobility.
