Manchebo Beach Resort and Spa Review
Next to the Bucuti Beach Resort on a fabled stretch of Eagle Beach, this little hotel offers good value and friendly, personal service. The glorious 4-hectare (10-acre) beach speaks for itself, and the open-air lobby boasts stylish Indonesian furniture, which is echoed in the serene beachfront spa. Too restrained to be kitschy, both of the two-story wings feature white stucco walls, pink and turquoise accents, and whimsical painted embellishments over the doorways. The rooms have mahogany furniture, and while not spectacular, they're pristine, with gleaming bathrooms, and a patio or balcony with a garden or ocean view. Members of the staff welcome guests -- lots of honeymooners and repeat visitors -- as family. Built in 1967, the Manchebo is constantly renovated, but it retains its aura of a simpler time. Facilities: 3 restaurants, including the French Steakhouse; 2 bars; concierge; 18-hole championship golf course nearby; fitness room; free Internet access in lobby; outdoor pool; smoke-free rooms; outdoor spa on the beach; watersports equipment/rentals Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
