Frommer's Review
Next to the Bucuti Beach Resort on a fabled stretch of Eagle Beach, this little hotel offers good value and friendly, personal service. The glorious 10-acre beach speaks for itself, and the recently redecorated lobby boasts stylish Indonesian furniture, which is echoed in the elegant and serene new beachfront spa. Too restrained to be kitschy, both of the two-story wings feature white stucco walls, pink and turquoise accents, and whimsical painted embellishments over the doorways. The rooms aren't spectacular, but they're pristine, with gleaming bathrooms, and each one has a private patio or balcony with wide-strip railings and a garden or ocean view. Members of the staff have been at the hotel for an average of more than a decade: Obviously liking what they do, they welcome guests -- lots of honeymooners and repeat visitors -- as family members. The open-air beachside wedding pavilion is as grand as a tropical cathedral and continues the Florida-inspired color scheme with turquoise and white. Built in 1967, the Manchebo is constantly renovated, but it retains its aura of a simpler time.
