Frommer's Review
Next to La Cabana and across the street from one of Eagle Beach's nicest sections, this quiet, welcoming timeshare boasts large studios and suites in Spanish mission-style two- and three-story buildings. Because many owners come back year after year, the place has the air of a family reunion. You'll see lots of American couples in their 30s, 40s, and 50s, often joined by children and grandkids during the high season. Independent rental guests enjoy the laid-back atmosphere and absence of nonstop activities. White tile floors, tropical pastel colors, and wicker-bamboo furniture brighten every unit. Balconies are large, and the full bathrooms hold a Jacuzzi. Studios have a small kitchenette, while suites have a deluxe, fully equipped kitchen. In the two- and three-bedroom suites, guest rooms feature two single beds; the large adjacent bathrooms have a roomy shower. The master bedrooms have a queen- or king-size bed and a bathroom with two sinks. In town houses, a spiral staircase ascends to the master suite. Bar seating separates the kitchen from the dining and living room, which opens to a spacious balcony. The more expensive Phase II units are closer to the beach and have a roomier kitchen and living room. The Phase II pool is also larger than the original.
Facilities: 2 restaurants; bar; 2 large free-form outdoor pools/lagoons; 18-hole championship golf course nearby; exercise room; poolside Jacuzzis; tour/activities desk; car-rental desk; shopping arcade; babysitting; coin-op laundry; rooms for those w/limited mobility.
