At the northern extremity of the Attersee is the small village and holiday resort of Seewachen am Attersee, which offers sailing and other watersports. However, the main reason we recommend it is the Residenz Häupl .
You could also base yourself at the lakeside hamlet of Unterach am Attersee. It's so small it doesn't appear on most maps, but it occupies one of the loveliest positions on the lake -- on the right bank, across from Weissenbach -- from where you can explore either the Attersee or Mondsee.
