Hotels

Baltimore caters to the business traveler but loves families -- there are about 9,000 hotel rooms downtown, with all the expected amenities -- with more hotels due to open in 2010. In 2011, the Four Seasons will open a new hotel on Harbor East's waterfront. Bed-and-breakfasts around town offer unique style and comfort.

Every hotel listed is accessible to travelers with disabilities, although specific amenities vary from place to place.

Bed & Breakfasts -- If you prefer accommodations with a bit more individual attention, stop in one of these city bed-and-breakfasts. Located all over town, each has its own style.

Near the Airport

An alternative to staying downtown and worrying about parking -- especially if you plan to see only the Inner Harbor attractions -- is a hotel near Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport that offers free shuttle service to the North Linthicum Light Rail station. About 15 airport hotels have such shuttles. From North Linthicum, it's a 15-minute ride to the Camden Yards station, which is just 6 blocks from the Inner Harbor. For a train schedule, see www.mtamaryland.com.

Closest to the airport are the BWI Airport Marriott, 1743 W. Nursery Rd. (tel. 800/596-2376 or 410/859-8300; www.marriott.com), which has an indoor pool; Country Inn & Suites BWI Airport, 1717 W. Nursery Rd. (tel. 800/456-4000 or 443/577-1036; www.countryinns.com/bwiairport), with an indoor pool; and Four Points by Sheraton BWI Airport, 7032 Elm Rd. (tel. 800/368-7764 or 410/859-3300; www.bestbwihotel.com), with an outdoor pool. Situated on the same property at 1110 Old Elkridge Landing Rd., the Sheraton Baltimore Washington Airport Hotel (tel. 443/577-2100; www.sheraton.com/baltimore) and the Westin Baltimore Washington Airport (tel. 443/577-2300; www.westin.com/baltimore) both have indoor pools.
