Frommer's Review
This curvaceous building is marked by the "Whirligig," a 55-foot wind-powered sculpture at the front. "Visionary" art is created by people who lack artistic training but feel compelled to draw, paint, or build a ship with matchsticks. Everything here is fascinating; some of it can be quite troubling. And the artists' stories are as interesting as their art. You'll be entranced from the moment you set your eyes on Emery Blagdon's "Healing Machines" mobile hanging down three stories. Some work is too strong for children (the museum will alert you to that); other exhibits are a joy for any age. On Thursdays during June through August, a free movie is screened on the side of the museum's building. The museum stays open until 9pm on those days. Check the website for film listings.

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
