Yakota ReviewFor 40 years, Yakota has been serving some of the most authentic, home-style Moroccan food in Israel. The place is simple, and some of the dishes are fiery, but if you're willing to explore one of the world's great cuisines, Yakota is a treasure. The opening meze of hot and cold spicy salads is great -- I especially love a dish of fried onions, okra, and rich, creamy eggplant. Tagines, or traditional clay pot stews cooked with dried fruits and spices, are the best main courses (all served with delicious couscous). Be adventurous and try the tender, slow-cooked oxtail tagine or the exotically seasoned calves' brain tagine. Lemon peel, marjoram, fennel, and cardamom abound in the sauces. The Moroccan desserts are very worthwhile. Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
