Alden's is one of the most consistently good restaurants in Belfast. The cooking is full of punch and yet thoughtfully restrained, while the atmosphere is low-key elegance. Start with something suitably complex to put you in the right frame of mind -- perhaps the steamed mussels with white wine and garlic to start, then the roast breast of chicken with Parma ham and mushrooms. Desserts are wonderful, the wine list intelligent, the staff eager to please.
