Frommer's Review
Not in the city itself, this elegant hotel is 8km (5 miles) east on the shore of Belfast Lough, in County Down. Sprawling across acres of secluded gardens and woodlands, the manor house was originally built as a palace for the bishops of Down. Later, it was sold and remained a private home until it was converted into a hotel in 1963. It has grand style, with fine antiques, plasterwork and paintings, Louis XV chandeliers, an unexpectedly modern spa, and exceptional service.
