Frommer's Review
Formerly the McCausland Hotel, this is now part of the small, chic Malmaison chain. Suffice it to say, things have changed around here. Formerly historic and warm, it's now cool, sleek, and modern, decked out in eggplant and black hues to the point that one British newspaper described it as looking like "Dracula's living room." Created from two classically ornate Italianate warehouses designed by William Hastings in the mid-1850s, it manages to offer a kind of cozy sophistication. Rooms are not huge, but will be home sweet home to those who think modern is the way to go. The color scheme includes neutral walls with black touches and blood-red crushed-velvet covers on the firm orthopedic beds. All the latest gadgetry awaits your moments of idleness, including plasma TVs, DVDs, and free Internet service. The bar and brasserie are (surprise, surprise) sleek and modern in design, with an emphasis on black (it makes everybody look thinner, you know).
Facilities:
Brasserie (modern Irish); bar; health club; 24-hr. room service; nonsmoking rooms; foreign-currency exchange

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
