Ferme Hégia ReviewSurrounded by the mountains of the Pyrénées, a farmhouse from 1746 has been turned into the best restaurant avec chambres in the area. Just 34km (21 miles) inland from Biarritz, and 6km (3 3/4 miles) south of Hasparren along D152, this retreat is the domain of Michelin-starred chef Arnaud Daguin and his wife, Veronique. Ancient wooden beams and timbers have been lovingly restored, but the interior is done in a strikingly modern design. Guests enjoy a glass of champagne in the open kitchen, watching Daguin cook his elaborate dishes. The cuisine is among the finest in the Basque country. The chef, for example, takes incredible care with his ingredients. He takes almost as much care with the other ingredients that go into his market-fresh cuisine.
