Frommer's Review

In the center of the Financial District, the Langham is one of the best business hotels in the city. Leisure travelers who take advantage of weekend discounts will find themselves practically on top of the waterfront and downtown attractions, and perhaps a 10-minute walk from public transit -- a bit of a hike, to spoiled Bostonians. Elegantly decorated and large enough to hold a generous work area, the luxurious, regularly refurbished guest rooms have 153 configurations, including loft suites with two bathrooms. The most desirable rooms in the nine-story building overlook the lovely park in Post Office Square. The city views are engaging, but they pale in comparison to the vistas from the best units at the Langham's main competitors, the Boston Harbor Hotel and the InterContinental Boston.

Facilities: Restaurant (Mediterranean); cafe w/Sun brunch and Sat "Chocolate Bar Buffet" (Sept-June); restaurant and lounge w/DJ Wed-Sat evenings; 40-ft. indoor pool; spa; well-equipped health club; Jacuzzi; sauna; concierge; business center; 24-hr. room service; laundry service; same-day dry cleaning; rooms for those w/limited mobility

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
