Frommer's Review

The independent Seaport Hotel was a pioneer on the South Boston waterfront and remains a sophisticated, eco-conscious presence in the emerging, construction-intensive neighborhood. The hotel, which opened in 1998 and was renovated in 2006, was designed and built (by Fidelity Investments) with every feature pampered, techno-savvy business travelers might dream of. The well-appointed, decent-size rooms have thoughtful features such as pillow-top mattresses, Logan Airport flight information on the TV, and fog-free bathroom mirrors. The views (of the city or harbor) from higher floors of the 18-story building are breathtaking. Across the street from and affiliated with the World Trade Center, the hotel books up unpredictably depending on the schedule there and at the nearby convention center. The kid-conscious staff, pool, weekend packages, and proximity to the Children's Museum make this a good choice for families, too.

Facilities: Well-regarded restaurant (contemporary American); cafe; lounge; 50-ft. indoor pool; well-equipped health club; spa; bike rental; concierge; car-rental desk; shuttle to South Station, North Station, and State Street; 24-hr. business center w/professional staff (7am-8pm); 24-hr. room service; massage; laundry service; same-day dry cleaning; rooms for those w/limited mobility.

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
