The 16-story brick-and-glass building (the hotel occupies eight floors) overlooks the Public Garden. The spacious accommodations feel more like stylish apartments than hotel rooms, with lots of plush fabrics, elaborate moldings, and marble bathrooms. The best units -- which cost as much as the monthly rent on some apartments -- overlook the Public Garden; less expensive rooms at the back of the hotel have city views. The welcoming staff is famously sensitive to the needs of businesspeople, families, and celebrities. Compared to its main rivals, the Four Seasons beats the Ritz-Carlton on location and the Mandarin Oriental, which doesn't have a pool, on facilities.
