Colonnade Hotel Boston Review

Adjacent to Copley Place and the Prudential Center, the independently owned Colonnade caters to an international clientele of businesspeople, sightseers, shoppers, and families. It's a welcome alternative to the chain properties that dominate this neighborhood. The 11-story concrete-and-glass hotel has an attentive, gracious staff and large guest rooms decorated in muted earth tones. The sleek residential-style furnishings include pillow-top beds, marble-clad bathrooms, and a round table with two chairs on casters in place of a desk. Light floods through floor-to-ceiling windows, which open on the bustling Prudential Center or -- my preference -- the South End's urban patchwork. The seasonal "rooftop resort" and swimming pool are a welcome retreat in warm weather.

Facilities:
Restaurant (Brasserie Jo); bar; babysitting; concierge; well-equipped exercise room; heated outdoor rooftop pool; room service

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
