Frommer's Review
This 38-story tower offers something for everyone -- complete business facilities, a good-size pool, and direct access to Boston's shopping wonderland. It's extremely popular with convention and meeting planners and is the hotel component of countless package deals. The guest rooms, which were refurbished in 2002, have Queen Anne-style mahogany furniture and are large enough to hold a desk, a table, and either two armchairs or an armchair and an ottoman. The chain's excellent beds, with plush down comforters, are another plus. As at the Back Bay's other sky-high lodgings, ask for the highest possible floor and you'll enjoy excellent views. Besides booking hordes of vacationers, this Marriott and the Sheraton Boston are New England's biggest convention hotels; the Sheraton has a better pool, but both have upgraded their accommodations and service to the point where you can't go wrong by letting price and frequent-traveler points distinguish between them. And if you're planning at the last minute, a hotel this large offers pretty good odds of finding a room.
