The MidTown Hotel Review

This centrally located two-story hotel is a tour-group standby that's popular with families, who like the seasonal pool, and budget-conscious businesspeople. The boxy white building, most recently renovated in 2008, is on a busy street across from the Prudential Center, within walking distance of Symphony Hall and the Museum of Fine Arts. Rooms are large, bright, and attractively outfitted in no-frills contemporary style; bathrooms are small. Some units have connecting doors that allow families to spread out. The best rooms are at the back of the building, away from Huntington Avenue traffic. The hotel is an oddity in this neighborhood of cushy chain and independent accommodations; even if you score a great rate at one of those properties, do the math to see whether the relatively cheap parking here makes the MidTown a better bargain.

Facilities:
Concierge; access to nearby health club ($5-$10); heated outdoor pool

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
