Frommer's Review

Location is the Hyatt Regency's main drawback but also part of its appeal. Across the street from the Charles River and not far from the Allston/Brighton exit of the turnpike, the hotel is convenient to Harvard and Kendall squares and Boston University. Shuttle service, access to the bike and jogging track along the river, and plentiful amenities help make up for the hotel's distance from the T. The dramatic pyramidal brick building encloses a 16-story atrium with glass elevators, fountains, trees, and balconies. The best of the spacious guest rooms afford breathtaking views of Boston and the river. A business destination during the week, the Hyatt Regency also courts families with special two-room rates, subject to availability. If you plan to rely on public transit, allow plenty of time for bus rides and acquaint yourself with the hotel shuttle schedule. If you're driving, downtown Boston is about 10 minutes away. The closest competitor is the Doubletree, which is even less centrally located but consists of all suites.

Facilities:Restaurant and lounge (eclectic); 75-ft. indoor lap pool; rooftop health club; Jacuzzi; sauna; bike rental; concierge; shuttle to Cambridge destinations; business center; room service until late evening; in-room massage; laundry service; same-day dry cleaning; ATM and currency exchange; rooms for those w/limited mobility
