A cavernous multilevel space with a full concert stage, private booths and lounges, large dance floors, and a spectacular light show, Avalon is either great fun or sensory overload. The club books concerts, usually in the early evening (the Pogues, Jonny Lang, and Taylor Hicks have played recently); when the stage is not in use, DJs take over.

Friday is "Avaland," with national and international names in the DJ booth and costumed house dancers on the floor. On Saturday (suburbanites' night out), expect more mainstream dance music. The crowd here is in their 20s to 30s, slightly older than the clientele next door at Axis . Open Thursday (international night) to Sunday (gay night) from 10pm to 2am.
