Review of The Shops at Prudential Center

The main level of the city's second-tallest tower holds this sprawling complex. In addition to Saks Fifth Avenue (tel. 617/262-8500), it's home to dozens of shops and boutiques, a large Barnes & Noble, a food court, a post office, and 10 restaurants, including Legal Sea Foods and the Cheesecake Factory. Also here are Boston's branches of Club Monaco (tel. 617/262-2658) and Sephora, and one of a handful of retail outlets for the upscale office and home accessories that Levenger (tel. 800/667-8934 or 617/536-3434; www.levenger.com) calls "tools for serious readers." Vendors sell gifts, souvenirs, and novelty items off carts and kiosks in the arcades, and the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau operates an information booth. The complex has outdoor space if you need some fresh air, and a farmers' market on summer and fall Thursdays.

Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am to 9pm, Sunday from 11am to 6pm. Restaurant hours vary.

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
