Colorfully decorated and always buzzing with activity as an expat hang-out, reservations should be made for lunch or dinner. Opened in 1997, Iguana attracts those who have cravings for Mexican food, although this is closer to Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican. Over the years, the quality of the food has sometimes faltered, but it comes through in a pinch. It is family-friendly, but families with young children should go in the earlier hours. The decor includes old Mexican posters and Diego Rivera reproductions. The menu consists of Mexican classics, including a selection of quesadillas, chilis, fajitas, burritos, and enchiladas. Jenö's Quesadilla is my favorite, but I opted for the enchiladas de mole and was disappointed. (I forgot to read my review from the last time.) The sauce was overly thick and did not have much flavor, so stick with other choices. Enchiladas with especiale sauce usually get rave reviews. An ample selection of vegetarian dishes offered will not make anyone feel left out. There are special parties for Mexican holidays. Friday and Saturday, the kitchen is open until midnight.
