Frommer's Review
Fresh flowers adorn each table at this distinctively French restaurant that is quiet, elegant, and pleasantly tucked away from the boisterous streets of the city center. Opened in 1997, the atmosphere in the restaurant is comfy and cozy, with central European artworks and posters from the early 20th century adorning the walls, giving the space a century-old French charm. The furniture and antiques that decorate the restaurant were imported from the grands boulevards of Paris. If you're lucky enough, and you probably will be, the restaurant's owner and founder Bernard Deléglise will be waltzing about the restaurant with flaming pans, good wines, and tasty dishes. Always check the daily menu on the large chalkboard, because that's what's recommended; the restaurant hardly uses menus, he emphasizes. The king prawn and scampi served as a starter were a heavenly overture. While Bernard suggested that the freshness of the seafood rivals that of his native Marseilles, the sea bass flambé and oven-baked sea brim that we ate was not caught that morning, but was nevertheless tasty and delicately prepared. To top off the evening, a dessert of soufflé with ice cream, apple, orange, and raspberry was spellbinding. This is more than a restaurant, it is Bernard's place.
