Frommer's Review
A unique sports bar and restaurant dreamed up by Hungarian boxing legend and national hero, István "Ko-Ko" Kovács. An Olympic and professional world boxing champion, Ko-Ko (as he is affectionately known by Hungarians) was truly brilliant, somewhat of a psychological prankster. In creating Box utca, he has applied his crafty wits to the culinary world. He's decorated his restaurant with a wide array of memorabilia, pictures, and newspaper clippings from his climb to fame. The far end of the restaurant is more intimate than the street-front seats, and on a non-sports night the atmosphere has little to do with a traditional sports bar or restaurant, save for the television screens. We were as impressed by the food as we were by the atmosphere; Vegetarians will enjoy the huge clam-shape pasta with forest mushrooms topped with a spinach and cheese sauce, while meat eaters can try the duck ragout with forest mushrooms, a blueberry sauce, and croquettes. A curious crowd inhabits this place, from the swanky to the young and restless. Have dessert in the cigar room, which has wireless high-speed Internet access and more memorabilia.
