Frommer's Review

After opening in 1991, owner Károly Szombati has accumulated 73 apartments in a group of buildings in a less-than-eye-appealing Buda-side neighborhood. The apartments are a 45-minute walk at a good pace or a 15-minute bus ride from downtown Pest. All of the apartments were refurbished in 2006, though they are pleasant enough, they are nothing spectacular. The furnishings are comfortable, clean, and for the most part new with the remodel. All apartments have full bathrooms and kitchens; some kitchens are part of the bedroom, while others have them in a separate room. The kitchens are stocked with dishes, cups, silverware, and other things can be borrowed from reception. Hegyalja út is a very busy street, but only two apartments face out onto it (avoid these); the rest are in the interior or on the side of the building. Also take note that only the deluxe rooms have air-conditioning. A nearby park has tennis courts and a track. There is a new restaurant in the apartment complex. The staff are friendly and speak English. The reception desk is open 24 hours. The clientele are the more sedate who are not interested in the nightlife, therefore, are not concerned with transportation after hours.

Facilities:
Restaurant; bar; bike rental; business center (for fee); babysitting; laundry service; Wi-Fi in building

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
