The Beatrix Panzió opened in 1991 as a modern pension with clean, comfortable rooms, but the furniture dates back to that era, though still very clean. Seven rooms have private balconies; suites have kitchen areas with two burners for cooking. Guests are welcome to use the sun deck with the landscaped garden and a goldfish pond; in good weather, breakfast is served in the garden. Staff assists with making tour arrangements and restaurant reservations. Although the pension is located on a small street about a 10-minute walk from the tram stop, it took me the better part of an hour to reach it from central Pest. I do not suggest this as a place for the energetic "I want to see all of Budapest" traveler as the commute will really cut into your time. Trams stop at 11:30pm. Those driving may find this convenient. A well-stocked grocery store is conveniently located down the street. There are no rooms that do not allow smoking, since they cater to European guests, mostly from Germany.
