Bartók Béla Emlékház (Béla Bartók Memorial House)

This charming little hall is in Béla Bartók's last Budapest residence, and in addition to hosting concerts and exhibitions, it is the site of a Bartók museum. Currently the house is undergoing a large-scale renovation project due to finish in March 2006. A regular concert series is given by the Bartók String Quartet, a prolific group founded in 1957 (they play a lot more than just Bartók). Concerts are performed from the end of September through December. For schedule information, check Budapest's free bimonthly Koncert Kalendárium or the museum's musical website at www.bartokmuseum.hu. Performances are on Friday at 6pm, and occasionally on Saturdays or other days, too, where tickets can be bought one hour prior to the performance or during opening hours of the museum. Open Tuesday through Sunday 10am to 5pm.
