The Budai Vigadó is the home stage of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble (Állami Népi Együttes Székháza). The ensemble is the oldest in the country and includes 30 dancers, a 14-member Gypsy orchestra, and a folk orchestra. Under the direction of award-winning choreographers, the ensemble performs folk dances from all regions of historic Hungary. The New York Times commented: "a mix of high art and popular tradition . . . Every dance crackled with high speed." Tickets can be reserved by telephone. The box office is open 10am to 6pm daily. Performances usually start at 8pm on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
