Frommer's Review
The market closest to the city center, the Józsefvárosi piac is informally known as "Four Tigers," an allusion to the tremendous presence of Chinese vendors. The piac, situated on the side of a railroad yard, near the Józsefváros Station, is not really a flea market, since most of the goods are not secondhand. But you'll find bargains aplenty: Chinese silk, Turkish dresses, Russian caviar, vodka, the occasional piece of Stalinist memorabilia, toy tanks, Romanian socks, slippers, and chalky-tasting chocolate. Also for sale are dishes, clocks, pens, combs, clothes, tea, and east European condoms. All prices are negotiable. Dozens of languages are spoken in the tightly packed, crowded lanes of this outdoor market, which operates daily from 6am to 6pm. Feel free to flex your bargaining muscles here.
