Frommer's Review
Buffalo's most luxurious hotel blends right in with the elegant homes on Millionaire's Row; without its tiny -- and I mean tiny -- sign, you'd never expect to be allowed in the door. It's also one of Buffalo's recent success stories: The 1860s building was brought back from the brink of complete collapse to become the city's swankiest place to stay. The service is excellent, and the sleekly designed (and completely nonsmoking) rooms with their very modern furniture, workstations, and amenities have attracted everyone from Hillary Clinton to Kiefer Sutherland. Big bathrooms are fitted with multihead showers and whirlpool tubs; personalized stationery and business cards make for memorable touches. The "grand" rooms are larger and worth the extra money, and though suites are a little too small for two separate rooms, they come decked out with fireplaces and plasma TVs. My favorites: no. 202, a "premium grand" room with high ceilings and huge floor-to-ceiling bay windows; and no. 212, cozy and quietly situated in the back with a fireplace.
Facilities:
Exercise room; concierge; courtesy car within 3 miles; 24-hr. room service; laundry; same-day dry cleaning
